Since our existence, the Center for Community Health, Education & Research (CCHER) has been in the forefront to advocate and to deliver linguistically and culturally competent health and social services to underserved and uninsured individuals in our larger community particularly Haitian and other immigrant community.
Our clinical and social services staffs have been with CCHER for many years. Our staff speak English, Haitian Creole, French and Spanish. Overtime these clinicians have built tremendous respect, trust and acceptance from the consumers they serve. Our consumers do not discuss their major medical, mental health, counseling and social concerns right away. Staff has to build the “bridge” together with the consumers.
CCHER offers a series of clinical and social services.
Our overall goal is to move the consumers toward self-sufficiency.
CCHER also offers EDUCATION and Prevention in different disease areas: HIV, Diabetes, Stroke, Hypertension, and Asthma. Our Effective Black Parenting training offers Haitian families specific skills and tools how to address issues of drugs inside their families.
Risk reduction counseling is offered for HIV, substance abuse, STD, Hepatitis, TB counseling. Our laboratory space is completed and Testing on site will be forthcoming in the next two months.
For the time being, our medical consumers are being referred to Hyde Park Health Associates, Boston Medical Center and Carney Hospital. Acute mental health crisis is being referred to Carney Hospital.
Because our mission is to reach the undeserved, our services are opened to all whether or not they have the ability to pay. CCHER accepts the following insurances: Boston Health Net, Cigna, Medicare, Medicaid, Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP), ValueOptions, Neighborhood Health Plan and Self-Pay.
