| The Research Unit is responsible for CCHER
programmatic data collection, analysis, and evaluation. The unit has coordinated
both individual and community level initiatives which have included the
following:
Recognizing that more information about this seldomly-studied ethnic population needs to be shared with health, social service and research professionals, the unit coordinates information dissemination through staff presentations at local and national social work, public health and other HIV/AIDS conferences CCHER developed the Research Unit in 1994. Research Unit is responsible for CCHER programmatic data collection, analysis, and evaluation. The unit has coordinated both individual and community level initiatives which have included the following: HRSA-funded Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS), a project that developed, implemented and evaluated a psycho-social educational counseling model for HIV+ Haitian adults; CDC-funded REACH 2010 which conducted a Phase I Haitian community needs assessment and developed a Community Action Plan for Phase II community-level HIV/AIDS prevention interventions; CDC-funded Project CAPAB: Capacity Building Assistance to Prevent AIDS in the Boston Haitian Community, which is engaging the local Haitian community in leadership development, community mobilization, and other capacity building activities that will have an impact on reducing HIV transmissions among Haitians.
