Metropolitan Boston Haitian REACH 2010 Coalition
Spring Short Course Description
|
Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation Overview Thursday, May 17th, 10 AM – 1 PM
This is the first, introductory workshop, for the series. We will review the basic definitions, concepts, and purpose for the topics that will be explored in more depth later. This will serve as an overview of the information and format of the next five sessions.
Community Assessment Thursday, May 24th, 1PM – 4 PM
Through the work of the REACH 2010 coalition, you have already been exposed to a variety of methods for conducting a community needs assessment (focus groups, surveys, key informant interviews, participatory planning events, etc.) We will review a few of these methods, and discuss how you can use these methods to inform programs at your organization. We will particularly focus on conducting needs assessments with minimal resources (time & money) – the environment in which we are generally working!
Program Planning/Intervention Design Thursday, May 31st, 10 AM – 1 PM
This spring we conducted HIV program planning exercises for four working groups. This workshop will build on what you already know from that process and other work with the REACH 2010 project. We will focus on planning programs and designing interventions that are theory-based, in line with evidence-based practices, and responsive to the needs of those you serve. This will be a participatory workshop, so bring your ideas for your organization, program participants, communities, etc.!
Logic Model Development Monday, June 4th, 1-4 PM
Logic models are useful tools for describing the connection between your program objectives and desired outcomes. They are also expected by potential funders and an important step towards designing your program evaluation. We will describe the components of a logic model and use the logic model for the REACH 2010 initiative as one example.
Program Implementation Wednesday, June 6th 1-4 PM
This workshop will look at how to implement the program you have designed. We will review kinds of structures and systems to put into place to ensure that your program is executed efficiently and with fidelity to the program design.
Program Evaluation Tuesday, June 12th, 1-4 PM
In this final workshop in the series, we will discuss the three types of program evaluation (formative, process, and outcome). We will discuss different program evaluation designs and demonstrate how you can use your program logic model to help to inform your program evaluation development. We will again use the REACH 2010 project, other programs at your organization, and experiential exercises to build your program evaluation knowledge and skills.
