SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES
The program seeks to link addiction with HIV infection and has three components: Individual Counseling ; Education & Group Training; and Community Outreach. Services are provided to substance abuse clients who may or may not have HIV, or who have yet to be tested for the HIV virus.

Types of Intervention:

        1. Individual Counseling & Group Support
        2. Education & Group Training.
        3. Community Outreach

CCHER substance abuse staff work with Boston area detox centers, half-way houses, shelters, rehabilitation centers, and mental health agencies to provide referrals, mentoring assistance, support to clients during the detox process, and aftercare support at the various sites for sustaining consumers' recovery.

The substance abuse team works in concert with the mental health team particularly referring clients who are in need of short and long term counseling and mental heath care.
